When I was a kid I remember thinking I knew everything about everything. My mom used to say, “oh here is Mr. Know-it-all!” Well, as I have grown older I have discovered that I know very little about most things and only some things about some things (does that make sense). Gone are the days of knowing stuff. It’s like this blogging thing–I want to be out there, I want others to read what I write, I’d like to think I know what I am doing but, here again, I am just pretending. However, I realize that I am not supposed to know everything—I just need to know one thing. This reminds me of the Apostle Paul.
Paul was educated and scholarly as the best of them in his day. He could keep up with the best Philosophers and still understand how to talk to the common man yet, he proclaimed, I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ 9and become one with him. I no longer count on my own goodness or my ability to obey God’s law, but I trust Christ to save me (Philippians 3:7-9).
Here is a man who had more education and more letters behind his name then the alphabet and all of his learning and life experiences were nothing to him when he compared it to KNOWING CHRIST! SO–I am determined to know Christ as well. I may not know much about philosophy (didn’t like it in college and still don’t) or engineering, I may not know much about some of the stuff that one can read by the multitude of bloggers on the info-highway, but I am determined to know all I can about Christ. I am determined to have Christ to become as Paul said,”ONE WITH CHRIST” As I do this blog, I will be challenged to present Christ and to help others know Him.
I can say this now, I am over the “Know it All” theme. I can handle feedback and comments, however let me warn you; KEEP IT CLEAN, HONEST, SINCERE and TRUE! I look forward to the experience of learning and growing together. So-LET THE BLOGGING BEGIN (I guess I can say that. If not someone tell me)!
